Seabird Sunday ! Curtiss TS-1

The Naval Aircraft Factory TS-1 was a family of models, all biplane “scout fighters” for the United States Navy in service from from 1922 to 1929. A family that comprised five land-based NAF TS-1, thirty-four production Curtiss TS-1 both in floatplane and land-based versions for VO-1 and VF-1, two NAF TS-2 with Aeromarine engine, two NAF TS-3 with a Wright-Hispano E engine and the TR-2 prototype with airfoil section used on the 1922 Curtiss Marine Trophy race. And there were the two Curtiss-Hall F4C-1 introduced in 1924, to test an all metal variant and introducing the new USN denomination. Now largely forgotten, they were the first dedicated USN fighters in service on USS Langley, bu also operating from battleships and cruisers. The Navy then turned to the “Hawk” series.
